Sandal Season. Are your feet ready?
Due to the upcoming sandal season, I have some interesting facts and tips on foot care for you. How to make them look beautiful and healthy in your brand new sandals or flip-flops?
After the Winter period, our feet tend to be tired, dry, their skin becomes rough and callous. The cause of this condition is a very small amount of sebaceous glands on our feet and an increased amount of sweat glands. In addition, warm and uncomfortable shoes, dry air and negative effects are guaranteed.
Therefore, it is extremely important to take care of our feet every day and systematically, not only before the summer season. The basic steps in foot care include:
But is often always better?
In this case, not always. Too frequent removal of rough skin with a grater or a pumice stone (I personally prefer the grater because it is easier to disinfect it) makes keratinization process faster and more intense.
Regular, but more gentle removal of the epidermis with a salt scrub will be much better for your feet. It may not have an immediate effect, but in the long run it will be more beneficial to the skin of your feet, preventing excessive keratosis, smoothing and softening the skin.

Reserve an exfoliation treatment with a grater or pumice stone for a home spa from time to time, e.g. once a week, depending on your needs, of course.
If your feet require more attention after a long winter, give them a relaxing bath with softening salts that regulate the sweat glands, refresh and cleanse the skin of the feet. After such bath, it will be easier for you to remove excessive, rough skin. An additional bonus is relaxation for the whole body - this is how foot baths work.
And finally, moisturizing, of course. It is best to use greasy, rich foot butters with regenerating, repairing and nourishing properties to compensate the lack of sebaceous glands.
